When you want a lip color that will stay put all day, you need a matte lipstick. You won’t have to worry about getting your hair stuck in a gloss or losing your look when you eat and drink. I recently found a matte lip product I’m obsessed with: Spela Paint & Play Matte Liquid Lipstick.
Vegan, Cruelty Free, and Nontoxic
These matte lipsticks come in highly-pigmented and seriously gorgeous shades. In the top photo, I’m wearing the Spa Day shade, which coated my lips in a mauve color and made them appear a little larger. If you want even more vampy, romantic drama try the Happy Hour shade. And for a vibrant red, you can’t go wrong with the Tinder shade, pictured below. The full line is available on Credo Beauty for an affordable price, which means I basically have them all. They blend together so easily — like paint — if you want to create your own color.
Based in Portland, Oregon, Spela strives to create high quality, long wearing formulas that are vegan, cruelty free, and nontoxic. When I looked up Spela Paint & Play ingredients using EWG’s Build Your Own Report, the lipstick got a low-hazard score of 2, so it’s safe. It also has Vitamins C and E to keep your lips moisturized. Spela’s liquid lipstick dries quickly without drying out, a common problem with other matte products. When I want to refresh it throughout the day, I can apply a little lip balm in the center of my lips without losing the pigment. The lightweight texture makes me forget I’m even wearing anything. You can apply this matte lipstick at full coverage for a velvety look, or rub it in lightly as a stain. Either way you’ll enjoy it until you get home since it last that long.
