After I turned 30, I promised myself that I would stay out of the sun once and for all. A flattering tan wasn’t worth the wrinkles and skin cancer risk. Now when summer comes along, I turn to a big hat and my favorite mineral sunscreen for sun protection. Yet I do miss the natural glow that came from hours on my pool raft. Luckily, I’ve found a safe cream bronzer that will give me that sun kissed look, without any toxic ingredients or risk of sun damage. It’s RMS Buriti Bronzer, available on Dermstore or Amazon.
Why I Decided to Try It
I’m a big fan of RMS. Like many of their products, I figured this bronzer would work well with my dry skin and stand in for multiple products, including bronzer, blush, eyeshadow, and lipstick. I also liked that the Buriti oil promised to nourish the skin and make it supple. RMS Buriti Bronzer gets a low-hazard score of 1 from EWG, which means it’s also safe.
First Impression
I immediately noticed that the RMS Buriti Bronzer is more red than orange or brown. The reddish hue reminded me of how my skin looks after a day in the sun, which made me excited! I applied it to my cheeks, forehead, and nose, where the sun usually hits. On my nose, it brought out my freckles.
I initially tried RMS Buriti Bronzer on my bare face. The bronzer blended in smoothly. And while it looks sparkly in the pot, the bronzer had no glitter to it when applied. It’s almost a silky, matte finish. When I used it over a mineral foundation, the bronzer provided some natural-looking dimension to a more polished look.
